Volunteer Team Captain Application

Note: This is an application for extra-helpful persons that would like to apply to be Volunteer Team Captains. The call for Day-of Volunteers will be made closer to the date, so check back in a couple of weeks! If you would like to be kept in the loop, just email pconant[at]mit[dot]edu. 

Maker Faire Volunteer Team Captains will assist in planning for and management of volunteers ahead of and at this first-time MIT event on October 4, 2014.  In addition to the specific tasks of particular Team Captains, a Team Captains will need to commit to the following pre-event and day-of activities:

  • Attend between 3-5, 1-hour meetings prior to the October 4 event. (Note: some captains may be asked to attend more meetings.)
  • Participate in volunteer recruitment activities to help staff your team
  • Contribute to pre-event conversations related to set up of systems and policies for your area of responsibility
  • Take a leadership role in volunteer orientation/training sessions
  • Be available at for the entire day from set up to break down.  (For Set-up and break-down captains you will be required to stay through set up or break down period.)

  • Serving food
  • Setting up exhibit areas
  • Taking tickets/capturing visitor data
